The Road To October 2025
We’ve collected over 200 submissions for our upcoming 2025 Annual! From all of us at The Quiet Ones: a great big thank you to all those who sent us their short stories, flash, and poetry for consideration this year. Below, we have outlined our timeline so that you can know exactly what to expect from us as we move forward with selecting this year’s pieces and producing the completed issue.
July 01 - July 31: Submission Period - Complete!
August 01 - August 31: Reading and Deliberation
September 01 - September 07: Editorial Decisions*
*all writers whose work has been accepted will be notified no later than September 15, 2025
September 16 - September 19: Publishing Contracts Sent
October 01: Due Date for Publishing Contract Signatures, Page Layouts Begin
October 30, 2025: Publication Day!
Throughout the month of August, our editors and readers will sit with each and every submission piece and build our short list from the works collected during our open submission window. The final short list will be deliberated on by our editors, and decisions about which pieces to publish will be made.
No later than September 15, 2025, writers whose work has been accepted will receive notifications and publishing contracts. Our editors will work out payment delivery, and moneys will be sent out within a week or two of our final publication date.
We’re extremely excited for this year’s Annual edition. With over 200 submissions to read, we’re over the moon with the outpouring of support and enthusiasm from our writing community. Stay tuned to our news page for more updates as we move down the road to October. There’s much more to come!
